It’s always hard to put your thoughts down on paper and then submit them to the world for consumption. You knowingly put yourself squarely on the tracks for the incoming judgement and criticism. I’m sure some readers will think I’m full of shit, others will think that I’m preaching, and I’m sure many will think I have a complex of being ‘holier than thou’. Yet even as surely as I know the haters will snigger from the shadows, I just as surely know it will be impossible for them to read what I have to say without a seed being placed deep in their consciousness that when the time is right will begin to sprout into a greater self awareness, it is they who jump to judgement that I am eager to serve. So it is on that basis that I welcome them now and forever to the words I write. I have written this blog to date as a means for me to organise my own thoughts and experiences and if someone else read it and drew benefit from it then great, if noone read it I wasn’t concerned as it had already served its primary purpose. Having said that, it always made me feel good when someone made contact with me and said they had enjoyed something I had written. Up until now I have never written about any of my personal experiences, I’ve always written from an objective philosophical standpoint. I did this because I didn’t want to make it ‘all about me’ and wanted to more collate my own thoughts as I mentioned previously. I think it was also because I was worried about putting my personal experiences out there for fear of the potential ridicule. I’ve now decided to think differently. The person I want to be doesn’t concern themselves with what others might think of them so I’ve decided ‘Fuck it, I’m writing it’. I’ve been on an amazing journey over the last few years and it’s getting pretty exciting right now. I don’t know where it will take me but I know the desired destination and I feel that this journey is worth documenting, for myself, for my children, and for anyone else who might take benefit from it. I’m going to start writing about the personal experiences I’ve had as well as those to come. I hope by doing so any philosophical conclusions I come to can be seen by the reader in light of the context my personal experiences have given them. I now document this journey with the future intention of collating these thoughts and understandings for my boys should they decide to pursue the same destination on their own unique journey, I will often write as if I am addressing them specifically for that is the ultimate intention. So with that said…I begin this blog on a new path, may the words that flow through me serve the greatest good of all who encounter them… Next: Are you ready? The red pill or the blue pill? – Fighting for Peace: Post No.2 ]]>
This post follows on from ‘Part One: Know Someone Who is Dying’ and ‘Part Two: Where The Body Goes When It Dies’. I’d recommend reading those first for context… As mentioned in the last post everything in the universe is made up from the building blocks of energy including us as Spirit/Consciousness and Soul. Each block of energy is a part of one all encompassing electromagnetic field which is continually expanding and evolving into the infinite parameters of forever. The sole regulator and qualifier of this creative force is frequency. When we are out of the body and return to our native form as light entities we remain subject to the universal law of attraction; that which is like unto itself is drawn; or simply like attracts like. It’s all about the frequency. So when we leave the body where we go is dependant on the frequency of light that we as a spiritual entity emit. An entity that emits a lower frequency will not be on the same plane of consciousness and energy as an entity which emits a higher frequency. There are seven primary frequency based planes of life which have sometimes been referred to as the seven heavens. Each plane corresponds to an energy centre in the human body which are commonly referred to as chakras. So what determines our frequency and which plane of reality we go to? It’s our level of consciousness, it’s who we have become, it’s the prevailing attitudes we expressed in our time in the body. So you see when we look at life in the context of all eternity instead of this little flicker of time in this particular body we start to see what’s really important. There is no real achievement in life other than the emotional wisdom we accumulate and that which we become. We can have all the money, fame and following in the world but if in the end we haven’t progressed in our consciousness it has all been for little. In the same light you could be a bum on the street who lives in love and freedom, who is generous and accepting of others and all that is and who sleeps bathed in the peace of life. It is he who has achieved greatly in life and is recognised in the absolute reality of consciousness by the frequency that he is. Consciousness can be an ambiguous term in itself so let’s look at what consciousness is and what makes for lower and higher frequencies. This is a map of consciousness published by Dr Hawkins who was a world renowned psychiatrist running the largest practise in the United States as well as a PhD scholar in the field of consciousness and a spiritual teacher of equally high regard. He determined this map of consciousness through kinesiological research and verified it through thousands of independent experiments, kinesiology is a very interesting topic worthy of further study but I won’t delve into it here. Essentially thoughts and the resulting emotions all create energy at a given frequency, the map of consciousness gives us a guide as to the hierarchy of emotional frequency and corresponding attitudes. So what this map shows is an algorithmic scale of consciousness. The scale shows the full range of consciousness frequency obtainable within a body. 0 (zero) would mean death and 1000 is the highest frequency a human body can handle in its central nervous system and was the consciousness level of such great teachers as Siddhārtha Gautama (The Buddha) and Jesus of Nazareth. Of key importance is the fact that all emotional states or frequencies below 200 are considered non-integrous and not supportive or destructive to life. This map of consciousness is really a whole discussion in itself but essentially it helps give context to the concept of consciousness and the emotional frequencies that make up the progressive understandings. The seven levels of consciousness which correspond to the seven planes of life/ seven heavens can be generalised by the predominant attitudes emotionally expressed by the entity. The first level is associated to sexual exploit and survival, the second level is associated to fear and victimisation, the third is associated to pride and power over others, the forth feeling love, the fifth expressing love, the sixth seeing all things as part of the one creative force, and the seventh the realisation that you and the creative force are one in the same. As for hell great news, hell as it is known is a fallacy, a mechanism to control through fear, it exists in the consciousness of those that give it reality but that is all. Having said that though, entities whose consciousness abides in the love and peace of the 5th or 6th plane of life may think that the 2nd or 3rd levels which dwell in victimisation, greed and power would be quite hellish places to exist but it’s not the case when you reason it through. Think of it this way. If you were a very loving person and went to a particular pub where the patrons were typically critical and judgemental of others, who thought of themselves as victims of life and continually sort to see themselves as superior to others and seeking power over them, you may think that it was a terrible place and incredibly draining, but for those of like consciousness that’s where they feel comfortable for that’s who they are and the frequency at which their consciousness resonates. Similarly they wouldn’t feel comfortable frequenting a social occasion where the harps are playing and everyone is hugging it out and expressing their love for each other. So in the beautiful perfect harmony of the ultimate reality everyone is simply drawn to that which they are. There is no great judgemental deity waiting to unleash wrath upon you or checking you have the correct religious affiliation. There is no judgement of anything you have done for all is already accounted for in the totality of your being and that which you have become. The assessment of life is exact, perfect and absolute, it can not be corrupted nor cheated. It has no bias and no favour, it simply is. The light of your consciousness resonates at a frequency and it will be drawn unto the same, it is simply universal law. So if you want to know exactly where you will go when your body dies, look within yourself for there lies your kingdom, built to your own design. With or without a body that is your abode, your ultimate reality.]]>
“Know someone who is dying?” Before thinking about where we go after this journey have you ever contemplated where we really are now? The wave of social consciousness is incredibly powerful and can so easily wash us down the same path as so many before us, but what if we stop for just a minute and let the masses swarm past us while we take a look around and see what’s really going on. When we start peeling back the layers we start to see that nothing is really what it seems. Everything is, as many sages have said throughout the ages, one big illusion. I know when reading that statement the intellect wants to shut the comment down as mystical mumbo jumbo but let’s take a quick look at some areas of the reality we think we know before we move on to where we go from here. Science has shown that everything in the universe is made up of the same stuff, you, me, the stars, the oceans, the air, the sun, everything. We are all made up of subatomic particles which make up Atoms. These are tiny units of vibrating energy. So even the rock or the piece of steel at the atomic level is very much moving. Not only is every piece of seemingly solid matter vibrating it is also about 99.999999999% empty space. So the first key point here is that everything without exception in this universe is made from the same building blocks of vibrating energy. Energy = Building blocks of all that exists. Now about a hundred years ago the field of Quantum Mechanics was born with what is in my opinion the most significant discovery of all time. This discovery finally bridged the gap between science and spirituality. It was called the ‘Double Slit Experiment’ and has been replicated ten’s of thousands of times since with never a single deviation in the outcome. (This is a blog post so I’m conscious of the length so I’ll include a video for those interested or wanting to know more about the experiment). Essentially what the experiment concludes is that the subatomic particles from which everything in the universe is made do not collapse into a set definable form until someone is actually looking at them or what is termed a ‘conscious observer’ is present. Now this is pretty epic so you may need to look into this to gain a greater understanding if you haven’t been aware of this until now. It means that all subatomic particles remain in the form of potentials or probabilities until we as a conscious observer look at them. Put bluntly, nothing exists as we believe it does until we are looking at it. This isn’t mystical philosophy, this is cold hard science replicated thousands of times with not a single variance. So the big point here is that when everything is broken down, all reality, the whole universe, all there is comes down to two things, consciousness and energy, joined at the hip. That’s all there is. Together they are the building blocks for everything we experience in the life that we know. Consciousness + Energy = Reality So there is two mind blowing aspects to this conclusion. The first is clearly that the very matter which makes up the world to which we attribute absolute reality doesn’t even exist in our accepted form until we look upon it. The second point is that our consciousness is inextricably connected to all the subatomic particles which make up the reality we perceive. Now once we look upon the world and the subatomic waves of potential collapse to particles and thus make up the the world we see, is everything even then what we really think it is? What if I said to you there was no such thing as colour? Well there isn’t in any real sense. Colour only exists in our brain because that’s how our brain interprets the light frequency given off by the things we look upon. The rose isn’t red as we think it is. The rose emits light at a particular frequency and our brain receives that frequency and converts it to what we perceive in our brain and experience as ‘red’. Ever heard the riddle “If a tree falls in the woods does it make a noise?”, well does it? No it doesn’t. Sound doesn’t exist either outside of our brain. Sound is simply a vibration or wave caused through displaced air or water, it doesn’t make any noise. The sound is a perception in our brain caused by the ear drum receiving the wave and converting it to what we know to be sound. What about smells? Same thing, they are simply molecules and give off no aroma, smell is simply the receptors in our brain converting the molecules to a perception of smell. Well there must be touch right? No not even touch. In a real sense we never make contact with anything we touch. Whenever we try to touch things the electrons from our bodies and the object we wish to touch repel each other like two magnets so they never actually touch. The world we think we live in all happens in the brain, it doesn’t exist in any real sense. Our bodies are an incredibly advanced virtual reality suit in which we can experience the creations of our consciousness. Let’s touch more on the connection between consciousness and energy… Doctor Emoto did some amazing experiments with ice crystals whereby water which was abused and hated upon could not form ice crystals when frozen or if it did freeze it was very deformed. Water that was shown love and gratitude would freeze and make beautiful crystals. This experiment can be replicated with a bowl of rice and some water (we have replicated this experiment in our office and verified the result) if you put labels of hate on one bowl of rice and labels of love on another bowl of rice and then speak to the rice with the respective hate and love each day, after a couple of weeks the rice which received the hate will begin to rot and stink and the rice given love will stay good and give off a pleasant aroma. The key point here is that every building block of energy is connected and our consciousness is the puppet master, the law maker. We create our own reality through our consciousness… Consciousness + Energy = Reality Let’s digress for a moment for the purpose of a quick thought experiment. When we are dreaming does it feel real at the time we are dreaming? It does right? At the time we are dreaming that is our known reality, we can see things, we can touch things, we can see colour, we can feel happy, we can feel scared, we can have sexual experiences and our body will react as if they were all real. Well they were real in our consciousness at the time, weren’t they? What happens when we wake up? We assume a higher state of conscious awareness and we recognise the contents of the dream as being an illusion of the mind. The only ‘Real’ aspect of the illusory dream was the fabric of consciousness that created it. Now what’s to say that our waking state in which we go about our normal lives is the highest level of awareness and the absolute reality? Well it isn’t. We are in the same scenario as when we dream just in a more convincing and detailed array of sensory stimulation. This is why the great spiritual teachers have always referred to the world as we know it to be an illusion. Similarly to awaking from a sleeping dream state, awaking from the waking illusory state and viewing things from a higher state of conscious awareness it can be seen that this ‘reality’ is likewise made up from the same fabric of consciousnesses, it’s all a game, a school of learning and sensory exposure for the emotional wisdom derived. If this is the case, what is the higher reality, where must one be in order to recognise such an illusion? The only true reality is life itself, the fabric of life is consciousness and energy, from this all else arises. So you see ‘afterlife’ is quite an inaccurate term because where you go when the body dies is simply to another plane of life. You simply return to that whence you came, life, consciousness and energy. When the body dies we are simply discarding the virtual reality suit because that game is over, yet many more adventures await. Next: Part 3: Where we go: Is there a Heaven or Hell?]]>
The basis that props up all fears is the fear of death. For most the great unknown. When it comes to the ‘afterlife’ where are you placing your bets? There is the eternal sleep of oblivion, sounds restful but kind of shit. Or depending on religious beliefs there are pearly gates and harp playing angels or maybe a bunch of virgins, sounds better but many find that hard to believe and there is also the fact that if we haven’t signed on the dotted line of said religion or if we’ve been bad we’re off to burn in hell for an eternity with the devil cracking the whip, man that really sucks. It’s really no wonder that we live in fear and mourn so heavily when the body of a loved one gets lowered into the ground or when one of our beloved is facing their own mortality. Death and time have in the minds of men become inextricably connected. Our lives become the panicked pursuit to fulfill personal, family and social expectations so that maybe we can deem our life to have been of value and our sense of self complete. As our lives progress and we find these expectations ever more insatiable we become more and more emotionally burdened with regret, disappointment, envy, resentment and comparison. Heavy is the shadow cast upon our backs by time and looming death. Pretty depressing? Absolutely. Especially given it is entirely unnecessary and of our own creation. It’s time we free ourselves from the only hell that exists and that is in the hearts and minds of those that give credence to such a belief. Maybe you’ve noticed that when meeting someone facing their own mortality they appear to eventually handle it much better than those around them. These brothers have been forced to look at what in life is really important and they quickly realise that most things that generate such misery in people are of no real importance whatsoever. As they become freed from the burden of expectations, they finally start to explore states of allowing, pure being, and peace. Unfortunately for family and friends while there is the undeniable sorrow of the impending loss of a loved one there is also the fact that the concept of death which we all try so hard to hide somewhere in the back of our minds is now right in front of us, this brings the spotlight on our own life and mortality and can induce the lower emotions as well as much fear. These emotions stack on top of the primary sorrow attached to losing someone close and a heavy burden is born. The beloved one who is often finding their own peace can now find themselves surrounded by well meaning yet emotionally overwhelmed family and friends which inadvertently envelope the beloved in their own lower emotions and fear. Never admitted but often can exist a paradoxical desire for the end to hasten and when it arrives family and friends find the end a relief knowing that the beloved is at peace. Without realising it the relief is often also related to the fact that death is no longer held in such immediate vicinity, reminding all associated that their time draws ever nearer. Those who remain can once again resign death to the distant depths of consciousness. In order to find our own peace in life and be able to project the strength and comfort of that peace into the being of our beloved we must broaden our understanding of what really happens when the body dies. The first thing to understand is the fact that we are not our bodies. How cruel would life be if we were but a body to live in a flicker of time and then disintegrate into dust. We are Spirit and Soul. The spirit of our being also known as the auric field is our consciousness, it surrounds our entire embodiment and is what commands the body. The reason why scientists can’t figure out how the brain creates consciousness is because it doesn’t. The brain is an incredibly intricate receiving unit which receives thoughts from the flow of consciousness in our auric field. The thoughts are tiny little bursts of light and when the brain receives them they are amplified and then make their way to the pineal gland in the brain which further amplifies them and sends them as electrical current through the central nervous system to every cell in your body. When the cells receive this spark of electrical current it ignites the gases in the cell which causes them to expand and clone themselves. The chemical reaction that takes place in the expansion and cloning of these cells is felt in the body as the rush of what we know to be feeling or emotion. When understanding this it becomes self-evident that the quality of our thoughts directly affects the well-being of our body. Every thought impacts every cell. This brings us to our Soul. Our soul is the memory of our being and is a body of intense energy lodged in a cavity next to your heart. As described above, every thought we have generates a feeling or an emotion in our body. The creation of the emotion generates an energetic signature unique to that feeling and it is that which is stored in the soul. Every emotion we have ever felt is stored in the soul and by virtue of recalling that emotional energy imprint the associated thoughts and visual reference surrounding it can be reignited energetically in our consciousness, this is how it is done without a brain or body. The body is nothing more than a garment we wear so as to experience this plane of form through the senses of the body for the prize of emotional understanding. It is the understanding and wisdom born of these feelings and emotions that is ours for all time, the soul is the only carry-on bag we are allowed. Sorry the 70inch TV stays as does the shiny new car. So we are Spirit and Soul, the Spirit is our consciousness, a wisp of light which allows to it thought that is in line with our creative will and spiritual understanding. Our Soul is the memory of every feeling we have ever had. Together this is what we are, a sovereign light entity, connected and at one with all that exists yet endowed with individuality through free will and soul memory. What we are can never die nor be destroyed. We are intelligent, brilliantly vibrant light energy, and we are eternal. So let’s talk about the taboo of death next… Next: What Happens When The Body Dies.]]>
The cry goes up – ‘Love will save the world!’ A cliche no doubt but indeed no truer words were spoken. What though does it mean to love? Love is sadly the forgotten art of humanity. Who do you love? Do you love your husband, your wife, your significant other, your extended family? But is it actually love? Can you really love anybody without loving everybody? I know on the face of it they sound like antagonistic questions but do we ever explore what it is that drives us or what it is that holds our relationships together? Can love exist in varying degrees? Or is that the same as trying to define something pure by measuring the level of impurities? When our man-made fragile mind holds sovereignty over our consciousness, can real Love even exist? What we think is Love in our closest relationships is often closer to fear. Do insecurities drive the demands of our relationships? How important is the physical? Is it addictive? Lustful? Conditional? Has the person been chosen because they antagonise the least of our insecurities? Or maybe they give us a sense of power and control. Do they have qualities that we desire and do we drain them for our own benefit? Are we more esteemed socially because of our relationship? Are we just happy not to be alone? Are we getting married because that is the expectation and who we actually marry is secondary? Have we become a slave to the relationship, addicted to the pain, to the pleasure, or maybe both? Has the word Love become the substitute for attachment, companionship, obligation, dependence, loyalty, devotion, addiction, control, craving, lust or fear? If that is the case in the relationships we value most it can’t get much better as we move outward in our social interactions. As an individual we have immense influence in our environment with our thoughts and deeds and the intention that lies within them. With every human interaction we have the opportunity to effect the world. Like dropping a pebble in the pond, we can send ripples of Love or we can continue the propagation of fear and judgement. We all play a part, the choice of what that part will be always remains. The world and all that happens within it is a direct result of our collective consciousness, we need to take personal responsibility for our part in that creation. Who would we be if we peeled back all the insecurities, the expectations, the fears, the prejudices, the pride, the jealousy, the regrets, the feelings of resentment and hate? Who would we be if we dismantled the neural-net, the man-made mind…who would be left? Who would we be without all that garbage and how would that affect our relationships, our communities and the world? We would be who we have always been underneath, who we were intended to be; our true self, all loving, pure love. If love is and can only be truly called as such when it is pure, free from fear, what would it look like? Love is unconditional. Love asks for nothing in return. Love is an entirely outward force given with no ulterior motive, no agenda, and not because of any future benefit. Love accepts and forgives. Love is compassionate. Love is ever patient. Love knows no rejection for it requires no reciprocation. Love gives, Love empowers and Love heals. Love knows no judgment, no prejudice, and no exclusion. Love is all encompassing and without favour. Love is joyful. Love is bliss. Love is from that which we came and to that which we will return. Love is our natural state of being. Love is the binding agent of all things, it is the wave upon which the creative force of the universe rolls forward. Love is the grace with which the eagle soars. Love is the ease with which the river flows. Love is the sun’s glisten on an ocean still. Love is the spirited laughter of a young babe and it is the fresh gleam from new snow. Love is the perfectly harmonious unfolding of life. The creative force of the universe simply is. Love, is that force in motion. When we are at one with the creative force, seeing only through our God-made mind we direct that flow. As co-creators with the God force we are destined to live through the language of love, every relationship and every human interaction fused with innocence and purity. Humanity will eventually find redemption for it is the very destiny of our consciousness to once again become the lord of light and the perfect channel of love. The question is how long? The answer is self evident – as long as it takes for each of us to take responsibility for our own minds.]]>
Beautiful people you can read Part One (The Truth About Depression) here and Part Two (Letting it go) here… Let us briefly circle back to where we began this discussion. The egoic framework, our psyche, our identity, who we think we are…So what is it? I can tell you it’s not who we really are. What is it then? It’s the man-made mind. It’s the vulnerable, insecure, terrified little voice in our head that gives a running commentary and judgement on the accumulation of man-made expectations and fears. The egoic framework is built with pillars of separateness, me and mine, competition, comparison, greed, power, judgement and fear. It’s floors are paved with the premise of lack. No my brothers, this is not who we are but what we have made. This is our man-made mind. It has been built by us on top of who we really are and now in many of us it is so thick with limitation that we can’t even remember who we are. We are lost and scared. The feeling you are getting right now when reading these words is recognition from your subconscious mind, deep within yourself you know this to be true and your body is speaking to you with that knowingness. It is the man-made mind that is the cause of all suffering. How did it begin? Judgement. The binding agent which holds the man-made mind together is judgement. So who are we then if not that little voice in our head that commentates the man-made mind? We are the observer. We are awareness. We are the ones who are hearing that little voice in our head. Make sense? Right now in your mind, please say to yourself “Who am I?”, please say it again “Who am I?” Scream it in your mind “WHO AM I?!!” You my brother are the self who hears that voice, you are the great observer. Our true mind, our pure consciousness, the great observer, is our God-made mind. It is built on oneness, compassion, forgiveness, acceptance, peace, isness. Our God-made mind is built with, and energised by, the same mind stuff that holds the entire universe together, love. What is Love? Love is the absence of judgement. Love is the isness of the universe. Love is the universal all knowing intelligence; the mind of God. To become fully free we need to let the man-made mind fall away and allow our divine greatness to once again take full residence. How trivial our man-made insecurities if for just a moment we were to glimpse the enormity of who we are as divine entities of unlimited wonder. We of course have free will, the choice will always be ours. So how do we do it? “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step” ~ Lau Tzu We need to decide which mind we want to align with, where will our thoughts, deeds and ideals reside? The man-made mind built of separateness, me and mine, competition, comparison, greed, power, judgement and fear? Or our God-made mind made with oneness, compassion, forgiveness, acceptance, peace, isness and love? By outwardly projecting thoughts and deeds aligned to our God-made mind we will literally begin to remap our neural network, we physically re-wire our brain. We will begin to make that mind our natural state. When we communicate with someone without judgement what we are doing is making a conscious decision to look straight past their egoic framework, their man-made mind. We accept that it is merely a result of their experiences and conditioning. We are understanding to the fact that we have no real reference for judgement against their experiences and conditioning and therefore we show compassion toward them. If there behavior differs from that which would be deemed acceptable within our own man-made mind we forgive their actions and remove our need to react to them in defence of our own ego. Essentially we treat people with love, where love is the absence of judgement. By releasing our brothers from judgment and expectation, so to do we release ourselves; in freeing them, we become free. When we treat people with genuine love and non-judgement, something quite amazing happens. When we choose to acknowledge the equality of their divine innocence, the same quality that exists in ourselves, when we choose not to even acknowledge the man-made mind, the other person feels that connection, they no longer feel a need to respond in a way that defends their man-made mind. They respond to us in kind, on the base level of love, of non-judgement, with their God-made mind. We have the opportunity to send a ripple of love through the world with every human interaction. When I was taught this by a great Teacher I didn’t really understand what he meant. With all knowledge it only really becomes of value when applied and can be translated from knowledge into understanding. Knowledge with experiential understanding then becomes our wisdom. So I thought I would just try it in life and see what happened. It wasn’t too long before I had an opportunity to experiment. It was actually twitter that provided the opportunity. We had come across someone tweeting about setting goals so I tweeted them to tell them about Freedawn.com I was then sent a response which was well and truly courtesy of the man-made mind. I decided to initiate the newly acquired knowledge of my great Teacher and respond with my true mind. And admittedly to my somewhat surprise, his great teaching was indeed validated. Let us open our hearts. The only vulnerability we perceive in doing this is attached to the defence of our meek man-made mind. Dismantling the egoic mind is not easy because it is the result of your entire life’s culturalisation and constant social forces, it has been cultivated through the ages but it is a worthwhile end, indeed it is our destiny. Let us break away from the social mediocracy which has enslaved humanity. For in the purity of our consciousness lies not only the end of suffering and the ability to create without limitation, but therein lies our ability to truly live. It is our rightful inheritance and our one true freedom. ]]>
Beautiful people if you haven’t read part one (The Truth about Depression) I would recommend reading that prior to the below… So our mind is polluted, how do we fix it? We need to treat our polluted mind like anything else that is polluted if we want to return it to its pure state. We need to remove the current pollutants and stop putting new pollutants in there, makes sense. I think it’s important we understand how the cycle of experience works in our body if we are going to regain control of our mind. When we experience something, anything at all, a very specific chemical signature is released into our body, this is the blueprint for our memory of that experience and is stored. We call it emotion. This is an amazing process and provides us with a rich catalogue of remembered experiences and can become fertile ground for us to create new and better experiences based on the evolution of those feelings. The problem arises when we have an experience which is in conflict to our egoic framework, it goes against our expectations of how the world should be, someone effectively has broken one of our rules. It could be something as small as looking at us the wrong way or bumping into us at the supermarket. Because we think we are our identity or the psyche we feel me must defend it at all costs, so we do what the ego does best, we attack. We start analysing in our head “why is he looking at me like that, who does he think he is? His type is always so disrespectful”… we could express our judgement of their failure to meet our expectations in a myriad of potential ways depending of how our egoic framework has been constructed. Maybe we get physical, maybe we feel even more insecure, maybe we feel judged… whatever our reaction is, it doesn’t really matter. The critical point here is because of our egoic opposition to the experience, because of our judgement of the experience, we actually prevent the biochemical aspect of the experience from completing its process, it is simply left hanging mid cycle and it is at that point it is repressed within us and forms a polluting toxin in your consciousness and a link then remains between our present moment awareness, your ever unfolding ‘now’ and that partially completed experience. More baggage baby. This is incredibly important in our ability to free ourselves emotionally from the past and indeed it’s negative effect on our present and future. The implications of these repressed partially completed experiences stretch beyond the realms of what we will discuss here but I only hope we can all master this for so much rests upon it. Suffice to say that no greater importance could be placed on this for the evolution of our consciousness and the quality of our lives. OK, so the key to getting rid of these existing pollutants is a technique called ‘letting go’, we need to allow that partially processed experience to be completed. In doing so you will break the connection which remains with it and you will allow it to gently rest in the past where it was always intended to remain. How do we do this? It’s a cliché but we have to literally face those fears as they arise. When a situation happens in our life that doesn’t meet our expectations, if it doesn’t fit within our rules, our fears will be stimulated, our identity is being questioned and an emotional response will start bubbling up in our body. I’m sure we all know exactly what that feels like. The amount of time we’ll have to get in-between the experience and our reaction will depend on how much of a threat we deem that particular experience to be to our ego. Ideally we need to stop ourselves from reacting. What we need to do when that emotion begins to rise up is to allow it to rise up, we need to feel all of that feeling. You don’t have to get on the roller coaster of emotion, just observe it, say to yourself “oh look that’s an out of it feeling, not overly pleasant but it’s just a feeling and won’t kill me” then it will exhaust itself in a few moments and be gone. You just faced that fear. You owned it and by doing so completed the emotional circuit of that experience. Your link to it is then released and you are freed from it. If it’s a heavily reinforced connection and a similar feeling begins to rise up in the future on account of a similar experience simply repeat the process. Every time you face a fear and allow it to play out and run its course you are removing a toxin from your consciousness and purifying your mind. Buddha said ‘Holding on to anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die’ never were truer words spoken. Much fertile ground for repressed emotions exist with people and relationships where we feel we have been wronged. Take stock of the relationships in your life where you have drank the poison Buddha speak of. Oh how we love to be wronged, we can be significant if someone has wronged us, we hold the resentment in us as rightful title of victim and therefore we are in our mind superior to the other person and we have significance. That is the ultimate fuel for the starved egoic mind which thrives on comparison, competition, the need to be right and superior. That resentment and anger we keep poisons us daily. We have to let that shit go, release the people in our lives that we feel have wronged us and in doing so you complete those experiences and purify your own mind as the poison drains away. Lay your past to rest. Let it remain in its rightful place. Stain your present no more with its pain and suffering. As you continue to ‘let go’ you will see great change in your life, with every emotional experience you own and complete, your bandwidth for creativity and joy will be opened, you will literally begin to rewire the neural connections in your brain, the way you see the world will change and so the world changes. Your mind will open to the joy and beauty that is everywhere. If we continue to clean out our mental closet the most important and challenging undertaking in our life will become the overhaul of our egoic framework. This ensures that we don’t continue to pollute our mind with fear and impossible expectations…this is the key to our ultimate freedom. We’ll take a look at that next… Next: Letting it go]]>
Our ego, our psyche, our identity, who we think we are, it’s made up of a whole bunch of value and belief systems which have been formed by the totality of our life experiences and culturalisation. It makes up a framework through which we see the world. It is what we believe the world is and should be. It is represented in our brains as an intricate web of neural connections called a neural network. What that framework really is, is a whole bunch of expectations that we place on ourselves and everyone else we interact with. It’s lots of rules that we think people and the world as a whole should adhere to in order to meet our expectations and to fit within our framework of how we think the world should be and how it should act. We effectively go through life trying to control everything possible, people, places, times and events in order to bend them and force them into our framework and to meet our expectations. We judge everyone according to their performance against our unique criteria and expectations. We don’t look the other way when it comes to ourselves either, we judge ourselves in the same light. Now because everyone has a unique set of life experiences and culturalisation, everyone has a different framework upon which they see the world. Can you already see what a disaster this set up is? A world filled with people all playing by different sets of rules trying to force everyone else to play by theirs. We have created an absolute plethora of fears attached to our framework of expectations. As an example let’s look at a few things that might be included within our egoic framework:
- In order to be of value you must be successful.
- Successful means being rich.
- Being popular is a sign of individual value.
- Being beautiful and a size 8 makes me valuable.
- Fear of not being good enough because of poverty
- Fear of not being liked and approved of by everyone
- Fear of being rejected as a result of being overweight or ugly
**Evolution must find balance and harmony. Are we proud of the human race to which we are part? Of what accomplishment does man stand in pride? Nuclear fusion? Going to the moon? Tall buildings? Yet we continue to destroy all that is infinitely beautiful around us. Splurging the true wealth we inherited like a spoilt child of his father’s riches…showing off to all and sundry our self-centered shiney glory at the cost of our collective soul. We have existed for but a drop in the ocean of time; yet our planet burns with the ache of our presence. As a species we just aren’t getting the hint. Nature screams for our attention yet we lie numb; deafened by the sound of industry. Must we wait for nature to correct our ill? Animals evolve with anti-predator capabilities, need we convincing that mother nature herself can’t evolve in self preservation? Maybe not in a hundred years or a thousand; but balance and harmony will be restored, either by our hand or another, it is universal law. **Global culture must find balance and harmony. Cultures of indigenous peoples focused on the land; respect of mother earth; spiritual connection to harmony a vein through ritual and custom. Nature was respected and her gifts celebrated. Too high is the price of ‘progress’; the devil counts his souls. Now what do we stand for; what culture do we call our own? Our children are born to the world with a consciousness principled on pure joy and wonder. Judgement, hate and fear have no place with a child. For a brief moment we protect their fragile perfection, their entertainment is rich with moral fibre and virtue. Cometh of age and their mind deemed ready for pollution; media gives only what we crave; culture now corrupts; we poison our adolescent minds; our own hand in its making. Anger, violence, despair, disappointment and greed become the dominant diet of consciousness. We feast on the fear. Adulthood arrives and slaves we have become; our dreams but memories. Fear holds the majority in the culture of influence. We become more sheep than the very herds we muster. The slaves that dragged the Egyptian queens were more free than we. Our chains are harder to see but exist no less. Money, power and celebrity take their place at the throne; all gather for worship. If a man speaks from atop his riches his words are coated in the same gold upon which he stands. Those who seek an awakened culture where man shines from within are ignored, because they stand detached from all that society worships. The masses dismiss the value of a man’s words if he speaks them from a shack draped in cheap robes. This need not be our destiny. Faith in mankind remains when our potential is served. Discovering our inner genius and brilliance delivers natures purification of consciousness; salvation’s key. A mankind driven by a consciousness immersed in the expressions of the soul is a mankind to which we can all be proud. Let love, compassion, understanding, joy, hope and wonder deliver us back from the valley of power and greed. Technological and industrial development no doubt has it’s place; there must though be balance. Within the indigenous cultures the counterweights exist. Let us find a culture of balance and harmony. For a culture to evolve to a place of harmony, those of the culture must evolve to the same.. **Individuals must find balance and harmony. We must take back personal responsibility. Man’s evolution must include that of his consciousness; his path to enlightenment; the awakening of his potential. The living of a life full and rich of all natures emotional gifts his reward. Without the evolution of consciousness, the wheels of industry drive us toward our own demise. Life is becoming ever easier; yet without the evolution of consciousness our meaning in life dissolves and our happiness with it. A sunset is most enjoyed after the longest darkness; we perform at our best when our backs are against the wall; our hearts open widest to spirituality when facing our mortality. Struggle and deprivation the commonalities to the best in us. Outside can not exist without inside. We know not beauty without knowing ugliness. Equally all life’s emotional joys, profound happiness and fulfilment can not exist in full potency without struggle, obstacle and deprivation. Striving justly in the face of obstacle in service of a greater good is what our soul longs for. The wealthier we become; the less struggle and deprivation we experience; the less contrast exists; the less appreciation there is; We are inadvertently destroying ourselves, choking off that which we really are. Inner courage our course to correction. The battlefield is no longer the Roman front or the beaches of Gallipoli. Our mind, our consciousness the battleground in this age; our enemy all things that stand between us and our natural state of harmony. We must find the same courage on our battlefield as our forefathers found on theirs; more than ever at stake. Victory and all of nature’s gifts remain; happiness, love, joy; abundance, for all of life’s warriors . Enough warriors and the future is bright and assured of the same. It’s time to take responsibility for who we are and who we are capable of becoming; what we are capable of contributing. The battle rages with or without us; dare not look on from behind the trees. Regret; anxiety; sadness; guilt; all shadows cast by the trees of cowardice. What will become of your mind? The greatest of servants or the most wretched master; the proponent of fear and paralysis or the gatekeeper graciously giving way to your inner genius and greatness? What of a world filled with realised potential; da Vinci, Plato, Muhammad Ali, Beethoven, Bruce lee, Mother Teresa, Ghandi? There are no great men; only men who are prepared to discover their greatness. What of a world where we were all awakened to the purity of our inner ideals? All the gold of a nation could not buy. Buddha, Laozi, Jesus, all men who lived in that place. Why do we insist to elevate them to unreachable heights; build around them an institution and claim religion for all to worship. We drop quickly to our knees rather than stand tall knowing that no greater men were they than we. Let them stand as they were; men as you and I; example of our potential. Look close to their message and to this thought I am sure they give blessing. Gods too need no idle audience. True homage is not paid on our knees. Let us honour our Gods on our feet; honour them with each virtuous step. Honour them with the respect of responsibility. Know that our Gods need no interpreter for they already have our ear, we need only listen. In selfless virtue we never walk alone; for the man in harmony sea’s will part and the mountain’s move; the universal law conspires to his will. The time for the many to be lead by the few has past. Too often we have looked to the few for their answers; taken refuge in their vision; allowed their spirit to sustain our own. We have given our gaze outward in reverence and worship when our own guidance and wisdom will always be inward. No fault can lie with a man whom draws assurance and inspiration from another; though quickly we must outgrow that external reliance in favor of an inner trust. It’s time for each man to lead his own actions; to take responsibility for his own potential; give fully of his own gifts. The future of mankind is directed by our collective culture; our collective culture directed by us. We must listen to that inner voice that pleads for our courage and yearns to be manifested in all our deeds. Martin Luther King had a dream; it’s time to dream again. The vision of the few it cannot be. We all dream; yet few stand guard of those dreams; fewer still fight for their survival. We must now rise up against the formless oppressor of all men. The light within us grows dim if we allow; let us not stand in the shadows of the courageous; let the only shadow cast upon us be that of our skyward sword. Let our lives become our message, let all we are and all we might be shine brightly through every breath. Let our children look upon us and behold man’s true greatest. For all men the wolf of apathy and fear stands confronting the wolf of hope and courage; to which will you cast your final meal?]]>
